Try these deep water fighters. The average size on Eagle Lake is about 6 lbs., but fish over 30 have been brought in.
Early spring has the lake trout close to the surface, just trolling and casting the shoreline will bring you success. As summer approaches, Lakers move to deeper, cold water, where vertical jigging, trolling spoons or cowbells are you best. The most fun time of the year in my opinion is in the late fall once the water turns over and the trout come up to spawn.
Stand on shore with an ultra-light and cast. Hold on once you get one, you're in for quite a fight. However you look at it, these are great fish, and great eating (don't worry, these fish taste great, nothing like their Lake Michigan relatives).
